PLBMalton-based heritage design company PLB will be welcoming heritage and tourism professionals from across the UK and overseas to North Yorkshire next week, as they deliver the keynote address at this year’s Association for Heritage Interpretation conference.

The conference is the top industry event for people working in heritage interpretation. This year, the event is looking to the experience of Yorkshire museum and heritage attractions for lessons in best practice. This year’s theme – ‘Adapting and Succeeding in Challenging Financial Times’ – is focused on sustainability, both financial and environmental, as well as innovative ideas for engaging visitors. The event takes place from the 19th to 21st October at Burn Hall on the outskirts of York, and is expected to attract almost 100 people.

As keynote speakers and conference sponsors, PLB will be sharing their extensive knowledge and heritage design experience as well as showcasing their unique ‘greener design’ initiative, which helps organisations create sustainable visitor attractions.

PLB creative director Jamie McCall says, “We’re looking forward to welcoming delegates from all corners of the world to this year's AHI Conference. Having the event on our doorstep this year is a great opportunity to showcase the extensive interpretation expertise and experience that North Yorkshire has to offer.”

The conference includes a visit to Castle Howard, where delegates will meet curator, Chris Ridgway, and visitor services manager, Hannah Jones, to learn how one of Yorkshire’s major attractions has developed a quality visitor experience.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Castle Howard Estate – a former PLB client - for all of their input and support to bring interpretation to life for the delegates at this year’s conference,” adds Sarah Oswald, PLB projects director.  “‘We know people are very much looking forward to their visit to the Estate and to North Yorkshire next week.”
