Description

Churchill College  Cambridge was founded in 1960 by Sir Winton Churchill, it is the embodiment of his vision of how higher education can benefit society in the modern age. It is also home to the Churchill Archives Centre, which keeps Sir Winston’s and Baroness Thatcher’s papers, as well as  a further 600 papers of their contemporaries.
Churchill College was the first Cambridge College to accept women and maintains a 70% Science and Technology quota. More than 20 of  its Fellows have been awarded Nobel Prizes.
Its architecture was praised by Niklaus Pevsner as being “The Best Of The New”.
Now, in its fiftieth year, the College  wants to  extend  Sir Winston’s vision with a new courtyard and additional academic support.
